Hello Games recently released an update for No Man’s Sky called Orbital, which overhauled space stations and introduced ship customization. Customizing ships has been a long-requested feature from the No Man’s Sky community, and now fans can salvage parts to build their ideal spacecraft. This isn’t the end of updates for 2024, as more are expected to come before the year’s end.

No Man's Sky Fans Should Keep an Eye on June 7

A cryptic update from Hello Games founder Sean Murray grabs the attention of No Man's Sky fans, who are anticipating news on June 7.

On May 29, No Man’s Sky surprise dropped a new expedition for fans of the title. The update, called Adrift, allows players to be truly alone in the No Man’s Sky universe. This new limited-time mode puts players in a universe devoid of intelligent life, with no traders, no aliens, and no operational space stations. This follows the previous expedition, Omega, which offered a free-to-play expedition, along with the game itself being free to play for a limited time.

Rewards That Players Can Earn In Adrift

  • Meditation, Alone in the Dark, and Isolation Posters
  • Stealth Paint
  • Starship Wreckage Base Parts
  • Gnawing Scuttler Companion
  • Ship of the Damned
  • Iron Vulture

The expedition starts players off on the desolate planet of Lapezuk. Players will find that Lapezuk is infested with worms, giving a sense of danger to go along with the feeling of isolation. Players need to rely on themselves as they survive a set of repair, exploration, and combat challenges. There are many types of planets in No Man’s Sky, and visiting each of them will be key to gathering the resources players need to survive.

Completing the set of challenges will reward players with a variety of collectibles. Including the gnawing scuttler companion, a supply of starship stealth paint, a ghostly frigate, and the unique Iron Vulture starship. The stealth paint is a unique customization option for spaceships, allowing a low-radar-signature look.

Players are able to start an expedition from the Expedition Terminus aboard the Space Anomaly. Players can also start an expedition from a fresh save, which may be later converted to a Normal Mode save after the expedition period is over. The Adrift expedition begins on May 29 and will run for around seven weeks. All rewards from the expedition may be redeemed across all save games, courtesy of the Space Anomaly’s Quicksilver Synthesis Companion. Fans should remember that this event is for a limited time, so they should explore this universe devoid of intelligent life with friends soon.
