Stern Grove Festival is a magical place to spend your summer afternoon for a day of community, nature and FREE live music. All ages are welcome and we do our best to make our Festival inclusive and inviting to all. Our event is free, but tickets are required. See below for more info.

  • Our concerts are FREE but we require tickets. All ages are welcome!

    First Ticket Release: Our first batch of tickets are released One (1) Month prior to the show date at 2pm PST. For example: Tegan and Sara (Show Date: June 23) - First Ticket Release on May 23 @ 2pm)

    Additional Ticket Releases: The remaining tickets (thousands of tickets) are released randomly in the weeks and days leading up to the show date. Keep checking after the first release if you did NOT get tickets on the First Ticket Release. There are many more opportunities to get them.

    -You can reserve up to 4 tickets

    -Children 2 years and up require a ticket

    Only reserved tickets from our official Eventbrite pages. Stern Grove Festival reserves the right to refuse entry for tickets purchased from unauthorized 3rd party resellers (individuals or brokers)

GETTING TO THE GROVE

LOCATION

Stern Grove Festival is held in Sigmund Stern Grove at the Corner of 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard in San Francisco, CA 94132. It is a beautiful amphitheater which was donated to San Francisco by the Festival’s founder, Rosalie Stern, in 1932.

  • The Festival has three General Admission Entrances:

    19th & Sloat Boulevard

    Vale Avenue

    21st & Wawona Street

    Entrances open at 12:00pm

    *Note: People arrive early in the morning to get in line to ensure great seats. Please expect lines when the doors open.

  • There is limited parking the neighborhood. Please do not park in or block the driveways of our neighbors. We suggest public transportation, bike, ride share, and carpooling.

  • Free and secure bike parking is available at the *21st and Wawona entrance.

    *New location this year.

  • ADA Parking is available first-come-first-serve along the North side of Sloat Blvd between 19th Ave and 22nd Ave. ADA Parking is extremely limited.

  • MUNI:

    Muni Metro:

    Take lines M Ocean View or the K Ingleside and exit at the St. Francis Circle stop. Walk West one block to the park entrance at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard.

    Muni Bus:

    Lines 23-Monterey and 28-19th Avenue stop right at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard.

    BART

    BART to Civic Center and transfer to Muni Metro M Ocean View or the K Ingleside

    BART to Glen Park Station and transfer to MUNI bus 23-Monterey

    BART to Daly City and transfer to MUNI bus 28-19th Avenue

  • Shuttle service is available for Seniors and those requiring ADA Accommodations + one companion.

    The Shuttle pickup is located at the 19th and Sloat Entrance and dropoff at the seating areas near the Concert Meadow. The Shuttle is available from 12:00 - 5:30 PM

  • Every attendees needs to have a free ticket from Eventbrite to enter the venue. Tickets from a third-party will not be accepted.

    In an effort to maintain the safety and security of patrons and staff your person and belongings are subject to metal detecting and bag search conducted by our Safety Team.

    Please review our list of "What to bring and what not to bring" before arrival. After completing the search, each attendee will then have their free ticket scanned by our Ticket Team.

WHAT CAN I BRING?

YES Blankets no larger than 5×7 feet.

YES Low-profile lawn chairs

YES Picnics and coolers. You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages.

YES Alcohol is permitted on concert Sundays for patrons of legal drinking age. Alcohol is sold at Stern Grove Festival. Visit our bars onsite to purchase alcoholic beverages. All proceeds are a donation to the Festival.

YES Strollers are allowed, provided they are folded down during the performance and not blocking walkways or in the aisles.

YES Hats and sunscreen (it does get sunny at The Grove!)

WHAT CAN I NOT BRING?

NO Tarps of any size.

NO Blankets bigger than 5×7 feet.

NO Pets are not allowed in the Concert Meadow. Service or support animals are allowed. For more information on service and support animals, please click here. Leashed pets are allowed in the West Meadow.

NO Sharp knives with a blade longer than 4 inches.

NO High-backed, standard folding chairs, large or tall tables, tents, umbrellas, and shade structures.

NO Barbecues / grills or any item with open flame.

NO Video or audio recording equipment. Unauthorized photography or recording of the artists and performances are prohibited.

NO Professional still camera equipment with a detachable lens longer than two inches, tripods, or big zooms.

NO We encourage people to ride their bicycles to the Grove, but bicycles are not allowed in the Concert Meadow. Please store bicycles with our free bike valet at the main entrance at 21st & Wawona.

NO Skateboards, scooters, hover boards, or any personal motorized vehicles are not allowed in the Esplanade or Concert Meadow.

NO Firearms or weapons of any kind.

NO Drones.

NO Fireworks and explosives, or any item with open flame.

NO Illegal substances (including narcotics) or drug paraphernalia.

NO Amplified sound, bullhorns, or speakers.

There is NO smoking at the Grove

NO Any item that can be used to disturb the peace, endanger other patrons, and/or cause damage to people or property.

Stern Grove Festival is Wheelchair, ADA and Senior (65+) accessible.

All attendees requiring Wheelchair, ADA, or Senior accommodations must have a General Admission ticket to attend. Please see below for more information.

  • We have extremely limited capacity in our wheelchair seating section. Due to this, reservations are required to ensure comfort and mobility for each wheelchair user and their guest. Because of this, we can NOT guarantee a spot for every person who requests a space.

    -Wheelchair spots include you and up to 3 guests.

    -There is a shuttle which takes you from street level to the concert meadow.

    HOW TO RESERVE A WHEELCHAIR SPOT

    When you are getting your free GA ticket in Evenbrite, you will be prompted “Do you require wheelchair access?“ Click “YES” to request your spot.

    This does NOT guarantee a wheelchair spot.

    We accommodate requests on a first-come, first-served basis. If we can accommodate your request, a member of our ticket team will email you 14 days before the show date to confirm your spot.

    If we are not able to fulfill your wheelchair request, we will try to provide an alternative accessibility option which is our ADA Seating Area.

    We appreciate your understanding as we try to accommodate as many wheelchair requests as possible.

  • The Festival has a first-come, first-served seating area inside the Concert Meadow for those requiring ADA Accommodations but are not using a wheelchair.

    -Guests and one companion are invited to sit in these areas.

    -We have limited capacity in our ADA Seating section.

    Please see a member of staff for assistance locating this area.

  • The Festival has a first-come, first-served seating section inside the Concert Meadow for those requiring Senior Seating. There will be no saving seats for guests that are arriving later.

    -Senior Seating Section has bench seating.

    -Guests and one companion are invited to sit in this section.

    -We have limited capacity in our Senior Seating section.

    Please see a member of staff for assistance locating this section.

  • Shuttle service is available for Wheelchair users, those requiring ADA accommodations, and seniors only. Shuttle use is for you and one guest.

    Round trip shuttle service is from the 19th and Sloat Entrance and drops off near the Concert Meadow.

    Shuttle hours: 12:00 - 5:30 PM

  • Yes. We are a FREE concert but everyone is required to reserve a ticket to a show. You can reserve tickets ONE (1) MONTH PRIOR to show date at 2pm on Eventbrite.

  • YES! All ages are welcome. Bring your little Grovers and come enjoy the music. We also have a KidZone which has family friendly activities from 12:30-3pm located in the Esplanade.

  • If you can’t attend the show and you have reserved tickets, please cancel your reservation on Eventbrite so other people can attend!

    Instructions on How To Cancel Tickets Here. Please note, this will cancel your ENTIRE ORDER and cannot be reversed.

  • 2pm. Concerts usually end between 4:30pm and 5:00pm.

  • We open at 12 noon on concert days. Overnight camping is prohibited.

    Keep in mind our shows are popular and queues do form before noon! Early bird gets the worm :)

  • Stern Grove is located at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard in San Francisco.

    Sorry but we are NOT in Golden Gate Park.

  • There is no public parking lot at Stern Grove on concert days. Street parking in the area is limited. Cars parked illegally or in driveways could be ticketed and towed. Patrons are encouraged to use public transportation.

  • YES! Picnics are welcome and those 21+ are allowed to bring their own adult beverages. No barbecues…we’re in a grove!

    We also sell alcohol, concessions and have food trucks onsite.

  • Pets are not allowed in the Concert Meadow. Service or support animals are allowed. Leashed pets are allowed in the West Meadow.

  • You can reserve a picnic table by donating $2,000. It’s a great way to support & enjoy Stern Grove with you and nine of your friends!

  • We have a bike valet! Fancy! It is located at 19th and Sloat entrance. Bike Valet is open from 12 noon until 1 hour after concert ends.

  • YES! New this year, we have bars onsite selling beer, wine and other tasty adult beverages.

    Every drink you buy is a direct donation to Stern Grove!

  • A City-wide ordinance (Health Code Section 1009.81) prohibits smoking in all public parks. For the safety and health of all patrons, smoking, including electronic or vapor cigarettes, is not allowed in any area in Stern Grove.

  • Lost and found items are stored at backstage gate near the Esplanade during Sunday concerts. Please fill out this form if you are seeking a lost item.

  • By entering an event or program of Stern Grove Festival, you are entering an area where photography, audio and video recording may occur.

    By entering the event premises, you waive and release any claims you may have related to the use of recorded media of you at the event, including, without limitation, any right to inspect or approve the photo, video or audio recording of you, any claims for invasion of privacy, violation of the right of publicity, defamation, and copyright infringement or for any fees for use of such record media.

    You understand that all photography, filming and/or recording will be done in reliance on this consent. If you do not agree to the foregoing, please do not enter the event premises.
