Subject: Vividly remembered for 25 years
I first saw this documentary 25 years ago, and have remembered it ever since. I am so glad to find it here and plan to watch it again. It feels now like the clouds of fascism and war are gathering again, and I wish more of us would watch this, and prepare ourselves for dark times ahead while remembering how much there is to fight for, at the ballot box and perhaps with arms as well.

Subject: Yikes! All Those Dead Bodies - Everywhere!
I watch this and repeatedly I ask myself: all these dead bodies, all these smashed cities, all these desperate people, all these babczas crying as they overlook their dead grandkids. I think to myself - are humans still in the Stone Age? Or what?
I blame this whole thing on the Jews running that art school in Vienna. They got an application from an artsy craftsy Bavarian goy - a one in a million goy who just wanted to be a Manet or something. Why didn't they just let the kid in? It's an art school, dammit - not a neurosurgery fellowship.
That one pissed off goy got back at those thoughtless Jews - in spades. And just nutty enough (artists usually are nutty) and power hungry enough to set this whole thing off. That's all it took. One nutsy art school applicant.
What I find disturbing is the almost complete lack of reaction to this carnage among many of these reviewers. They act like those are just Hollywood sets. Well, for starters, the next one will not be confined to the other side of the ocean - no way.

Subject: At least add English Subtitles
One of the best war doc I've ever seen, but for non-native English speakers subtitles helps a lot.
I kindly request to add Eng sub for people having a little difficulty in understanding English.

Many thanks for this upload. The only other place I could find this was on a UK streaming service where each episode is cut by 7 minutes.
I also thank you for the upload of The Great War (BBC 1964). The only other place to find this is YouTube, but your version is pristine.
All children should watch these series as I fear we are currently in episode 1...The Causes Of World War 3.
You have done everybody a great service.

Subject: Watched One Episode So Far or several.
I watched the episode covering the bombing of Germany.
The RAF bombed by night, the USAAF bombed during
the day. I am glad they interviewed these people while
most of the veterans of WWII were still alive.
Interviewing the veterans is an enormously big part of
why this 1973 documentary is so important and
contributes to the historical record.
Most of the veterans and civilians from back then
have now passed away from old age.
I have got to address something off-topic for the reader to
understand. Now the reviewer I'm thinking of can say
whatever they want, they are allowed their freedom-of-expression.
So am I. But they used the term, "Christo-fascist." Whatever that means.
Taking my que from the verse, "you cannot obey God and mammon,"
You cannot mix following Jesus Christ with that evil ideology.
Where Jesus says, do not hate your enemies, pray for those who
persecute you, the fascist doctrine is unjust and puts innocent people's
lives in jeopardy. I mean, that's what the Nazis did and they were
fascist, right? I mean there were whole people groups they tried to
exterminate, like Jews and Romani people and others.
Jesus died on a cross because He was taking our punishment as breakers
of His law, to save our souls from Hell. And then He rose again back to life
3 days later. If we believe in Him then He is faithful to save us and give us
a relationship with Him. He called that being "born again."
I have not said this the best but the 3rd chapter in the Gospel of John says
it best.
Anyway, obviously I am a Christian, and I don't take credit for it because it
took the power of Jesus Christ, God Almighty to wipe my sins away.
There are people we "modern" Christians admire, such as
Corrie Ten Boom. She was a good Christian lady who hid many people in
danger during World War 2 with her family, from the bad guy Germans.
(There were and are good guy Germans). That lady is better than most of
us Western Christians I would say but she is an example of a Bible following
Christian.
I do take issue with the disparaging language that one "reviewer" used against
another "reviewer." That is wrong. It should not be allowed in this forum.
On last thing, anybody can call themselves a "Christian" but it does not make it
so. If somebody says they are a "Nazi" and a "Christian" or a "Fascist" and
a "Christian" then there is something wrong.

You are a goddamned cretin. Trying to use $2.00 words to "whitewash" your anti-Semitism and homophobia is not just absurd, its pathetic and sad. Socialism is not communism, or fascism, I suggest you get a library card. Your paranoid and delusional thinking is a product of too much FOX or OAN I think, try thinking for yourself. Or just try thinking without your Christofascist bias for a minute.
With that being said, great series. Thanks for uploading it Berserk Monster.

Subject: Should Be Called "The Deafening Silence"
Dennis Gannon748... is absolutely correct in his weary criticism of the endless layers of whitewash over the last century with regards to the other (and far more statistically pernicious) branch of Socialism, i.e. Communism.
I have watched this series several times since it first came out and as a description as to how the axis powers were created and defeated it is still second to none.
However, the deliberate obsession since then with force feeding a sadly impressionable general public with Marxist PR; the lie that Nazism was antithetical to Socialism, and the lunatic assertion that the very people who inherited the totalitarian and despotic spirit of Communism AND Fascism are the "progressives" that will lead us all to a better existence (whether we like it or not - of course), is wearying to say the least.
The jig is up, the cat is out of the bag.
The endless brightly coloured flags and insignia line our streets and adorn our companies, the public holidays celebrate not saints but sinners and every foot soldier of every branch of the establishment or private company is a paid up member of the "party" - and woe to them who criticise or attempt to abstain!
Documentaries like this are now relevant again but, unfortunately to remind those of us with any shred of discernment that we are back in the 1920's and 30's in Germany.

Subject: Very powerful TV series
First time I watched this was in the 80's. It was heavily censored when it was aired then. This is the full version and quite shocking. It seems to cover the war in great detail but the best part is it was maid fairly soon after 1945. So you have the combatants on both sides still quite young telling their stories. A hugely powerful series of 26 episodes and a must see for folk who want to learn what sacrifices our boys made

Subject: Best Series on the Second World War Ever Produced
This is, in my opinion, THE documentary series on WWII. It's not for the overly sensitive; it has the most graphic footage of any series I've seen. It truly shows the horrors of war, from footage of civilian and battlefield dead all the way up to footage of war crimes. It's does a phenomenal job of not sanitizing the war. That aspect is largely what this doc is known for in armchair historian circles. What I think really makes it stand out is the sheer number of high level participants, on all sides, that were still alive and interviewed for this series. Top-tier content. Can't believe I found it on the free side of the internet.

Subject: Must see
To this day one of the most memorable and well produced war documentaries available. And unlikely modern media it’s not censored to be sunshine and rainbows with a biased sponsor friendly message. It reports on actual war. And will inspire lessons and thoughts without preaching. It presents you the factual info and allows one to draw from it what you will. Unheard of and taboo by modern standards

Did no one know that Stalin and the Bolsheviks had murdered millions BEFORE WW2? Many books were written BEFORE WW2 pointing out the murders, but they were "ignored'? Forgotten?
Patton was right of course, they fought the wrong enemy, and the post WW2 suffering of Russia and Eastern Europe vindicated him. But, the propaganda war CONTINUES, even now, in 2022. Hitler was the #1 bad guy, and Stalin and the Bolsheviks, and Mao still get a pass.
