Earl Perrian Casey Jr. and Patricia “Ann” Stanley Casey, married 49 years, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. Earl was born in Boaz, Ala. on Dec. 27, 1947, to the late Earl Perrian Casey Sr. and Nellie Jo Allen Casey. Ann was born in Calhoun on July 31, 1948, to the late J.T. Stanley and Azille Bertie Hall Stanley.


Earl was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Nell Casey Mauldin.


Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Randall Stanley and Steve Stanley; sister and brother-in-law, Eva Sue and Virgil Pierce.


Earl and Ann enjoyed road trips and traveling together. Ann loved to cook for Earl and was especially known for having the best chicken casserole, baked mac and cheese, and homemade biscuits. She always enjoyed sharing her recipes with others, and she attended Red Bud School. Earl was a graduate of Sardis High School in Boaz, Ala. He proudly served in the United States Army and retired from Shaw Industries.


They are survived by their children, Randy Dutton (Robin), Junior Dutton (Rachel), and Nicky Smith (Mark Bates); 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Earl is survived by his sister, Lea Ann Truitt, and nieces and nephews.


Services are incomplete and will be announced at a later date.

Mrs. Shirley Carney Crump, 86, of Calhoun, passed away at her residence on Thursday, June 13, 2024, following a brief illness. She was born in Calhoun on Oct. 12, 1937, to the late Lewis Denver Carney and Pearle Price Carney.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Banks Crump; brothers, A.D. Carney (Effie), James Carney (Jenette), Rayford Carney (Virginia), Charles Carney (Dorothy); sisters, Frances Goss (Hubert), Betty Sue Edwards, Catherine Haygood (Bobby), and Dorothy Wilson (Clinton).
She was a dedicated member of Concord Baptist Church.


Shirley is survived by her sons, Lee Crump and Paul Crump; sister, Mary Ruth Robinson; brother-in-law, Melvin Edwards; grandchildren, Emmiline Crump, Lea Jordon, Crystal Whitfield; great-grandchildren, Paisley Jordon, Laykn Jordon, Goerge Whitfield, Chase Whitfield; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 18, at 12 noon from Concord Baptist Church, with Bro. Randy Southerland and Rev. Joe Hall officiating. Music will be arranged by Pat Hall and Joe Geer. Interment will follow in Gaines Cemetery, with Rev. Mike Janow conducting the graveside service. Pallbearers serving will include Ricky Witt, Tyrone Wilson, Stevie Robinson, Barry Hall, Gabe Edwards, and Eddie Carney. Honorary pallbearers include Kim Williams, Ronald Graham, Ricky Willix, Sammy Witt, Matt Barton, Kelly Carney, Barry Rickett, and Roy King.


The family will receive friends Monday evening at Concord Baptist Church between 5 – 9 p.m.

Mr. Billy Eugene Dabbs, age 56, of the Shannon Community, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at a local hospital.


Mr. Dabbs was born in Floyd County on May 26, 1968, to the late Tommy Carl Dabbs and Retha Ann Watson Hood. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one brother, Tommy “Darrell” Dabbs.


Mr. Dabbs was a painter by trade and was self-employed most of his career. He was a NASCAR fanatic with an exquisite collection of collectable cars and anything NASCAR related. He enjoyed watching the news and was always “in the know” on what was going on from day-to-day. Mr. Dabbs was of the Church of God faith.


Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Retha Ann Hood of Shannon; sister, Wanda Ford of Shannon; two daughters, Amanda Dabbs West of Cartersville and Tiffany Wells (Alex) of Rome; brother-in-law, Roger Shelton; three nieces, Brittany Ford, Jamie Southers, and Ashley Short; two nephews, Adam Dabbs and Chase McEntyre; four grandchildren.


Funeral Services were held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Reynolds Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Adairsville. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include Alex Wells, Chase McEntyre, Adam Dabbs, Roger Shelton, Josh Southers, and Steven Baxley.


The family received friends on Thursday, June 13th from 5 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Alvin Ausben Ray, Jr., age 69, of Adairsville went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, June 10, 2024.


Alvin was born in Cartersville on Feb. 4, 1955, son of the late Alvin Ausben Ray, Sr. and Dora Evelyn Stroup Ray. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Cindy Ray.


Alvin was a member of New Beginning Baptist Church and enjoyed visiting his brother’s church, Open Bible Church. He was a retired mechanic from Atlanta Gas Light. Alvin enjoyed riding motorcycles and working on engines. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.


Survivors include his loving wife, Martha Ray; children, Lamar Alvin Ray (Michelle), April Lynn Popejoy, Sherry Denise Massingill (Charles), Alvin Ausben Ray, III(Haley), Brenda Aldora “Allie” Ray (Seth), Cody Tidwell (Destiny), Starla Chambers, Brittney Tidwell (Jonathan); sister, Carolyn D. Ray; brothers, Rev. Robert “Bobby” Ray (Margaret), James H. Ray, Keith A. Ray (Natasha), Bruce “Kelley” Ray (Missy), and Marty Allen Ray; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.


Funeral services were held Friday, June 14, 2024, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Michael Matthew officiating. Interment followed in Fain Cemetery, Calhoun.
Pallbearers were Keith Payne, Charles Massingill, Jonathan Bass, Marty Ray, and Terry Hicks.


The family received friends Thursday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Barton Funeral Home.
